Wheels of Love Fundraiser

I was in Israel for the first time from October 24 - November 4th, 2007.  I went for the Wheels of Love fundraiser to raise money for  Alyn Pediatric Hospital, in Israel. The 300 mile ride in northern Israel was spectacular, but not near as spectacular as the religious connection I made all over Israel and the nachas of being meeting so many cousins for the first time.

Despite the 2007 ride ending, the fundraising for Alyn Hospital continues.  If you haven't had a chance to make a donation, click "THE HOSPITAL" button for info on the hospital and instructions on how to donate.

This was definitely a life-changing experience.  To "experience" the ride, click on "THE RIDE" button to the left.  You will find photos of the ride, and animated GPS recordings of each day's ride - you can see our route, my speed, the elevation (surprisingly low - 20 to 30% of the ride took place below sea level!), the grades and our stops along the way.  The photos are mostly of fellow riders, but their faces say so much.

I also would like to introduce you to my cousins in Israel.  They treated me so warmly and taught me so much about Israel, our heritage and planted the seeds for my Aliyah.  Click on the "My Family" button for more info.

I did have a little time for sightseeing.  I came to Israel with so many questions, especially about Masada.  I left with even more questions - that will require a lot more time in Israel to research.  Click on the "SIGHTS" button to see my pictures.

I want to wish a Refuah Shlemah to Chayim Phillips, who is recovering from a heart attack (hopefully not because of my visit).  Chayim left me with the toughest question - "how can you live outside Israel?".  I don't know....

Lastly, click here to see my diary and essays from the trip.  I studied Israel all of my life, but there were plenty of surprises for this first time visitor.
